Having Whisky with Ice Cream

Oh! so hot the weather is! This is what we hear the maximum time in India. We feel unfortunate because the weather in India remains hot for the maximum time. But convert this into good fortune. Yes, it is possible! Try to see the positive side!

Wow! the whisky ice cream! Awesome treat on a hot day!

We often search for a cocktail drink or dessert for relief from warm weather. What about a blend of both drinks and a dessert! Let the drink be whisky and dessert ice cream. But there are three twists revealed in the latter part of the blog.

Feeling curious to try the pairing of whisky with ice cream. Right! Well, you can try Choco chip cookie dough, a perfect blend of ice cream and whisky. The best idea is to try a unique recipe of ice cream and whisky blended. What about Plain custard-based whisky ice cream? Great. Right! Try this out!

Ingredients:

Imperial Blue whisky – ¼ cup

Heavy cream – 2 cups

Whole milk – 2 cups

Large-sized egg yolk – 8

Granulated sugar – 1 ¼ cups

Take a saucepan. Then mix the mentioned quantity of milk and cream onto the saucepan. Do not forget to add half of the mentioned quantity of sugar at this stage. Then switch on the flame. Continue stirring the mixture gently until it comes to a boil.

Now is the time of whisking the egg yolks with the remaining sugar into a medium-sized bowl. Continue whisking until it turns pale yellow and smooth.

Suppose the cream mixture has come to a boil. So, remove it from the heat. Now slowly pour this mixture onto the bowl of egg-yolk mixture. with continuous stirring. Otherwise, the egg yolks may turn into scrambled eggs.

Now cook the yolk-cream mixture on the stovetop under low heat. Continue whisking the mixture. Remember to take a wooden spoon and continue stirring for 2 minutes until the heat touches 165 to 180 degrees. Never allow the heat to go above 180 degrees. Otherwise, the egg yolks may get scrambled. So, use an instant-read thermometer for checking the heat.

How could you understand the mixture is done? Take a spoon, dip it into the mixture and observe whether it is coating the back of your spoon or not. It means that the mixture has become properly thickened. Also, you will observe that steam is noticeable, but the mixture is not at the boiling point. Now let the mentioned quantity of whisky enter the mixture and stir it well.

So, we are ready with our base of whisky ice cream. Now pour this into a clean airtight container. Then keep this base in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours. Use an ice cream maker and process it further. Try to consume this delicious whisky dessert for 3 to 5 days.

Ingredients:

The Glenlivet whisky-¼ cup

Egg yolks – 4

Sugar-¼+¼

Heavy cream-1 ½ cups

Semisweet chocolate-3 ounces (in chopped form)

Mini chocolate chips-¼ cup

Vanilla bean split without seeds – 1

Take a medium-sized bowl and whisk the egg yolks well with the whisky and ¼ cup sugar. Then set aside the mixture for some time.

Try to meet the hard chocolate under low heat. On the other hand, stir well the vanilla bean, seeds, cream and another ¼ cup sugar on a large saucepan. Now let this mixture slowly enter into the yolk mixture. Remember to continue stirring the yolk mixture at this point. Once it is done, pour the whole mixture into a saucepan and stir this under medium heat. Switch off the gas when the mixture has become thickened.

Take a bowl with ice. Now it is the time to strain the mixture into the bowl. Let this mixture get refrigerated for at least 45 minutes. Then add chocolate chips to the chilled mixture and give it a good mix. Then spin the mixture in an ice cream maker until you get a severe soft consistency, say for 20 minutes.

The last one is a little spicy one: whisky and Spiced Walnut Ice Cream

Ingredients:

Jameson whisky – 2 teaspoon + 3 tablespoon

Sugar-1/3rd cup + 1 cup

Cinnamon – 1 teaspoon

Salt – ½ teaspoon + ½ teaspoon

All spice powder – ½ teaspoon

Walnut pieces – 2 cups

Egg white – 1 teaspoon

Milk – 1 cup

Heavy cream – 3 cups

Egg yolks – 5

Vanilla bean paste – 1 tablespoon

Take a saucepan and heat the milk, cream, and vanilla bean seeds into it under medium flame. Remember to whisk it well.

Take a bowl and mix well the egg yolks and sugar in it. Now it is time to let the egg yolk mixture go into the hot cream mixture very slowly and continue rigorous whisking so that the mixture does not form curdles. Also, keep on stirring well until the mixture becomes thick. Then keep the flame off. And refrigerate the mixture for about 4 hours.

Mix ½ teaspoon salt, ⅓ cup sugar, and spices in a small bowl. Then coat the walnut well with the spices. Take another bowl to whisk well the egg white and whisky until it becomes frothy.

Preheat the oven at 350 degrees F. Now let the walnuts get mixed with the egg white mixture. Then let the sugar mixture get entry. Mix all these gently. Then spread the well-coated walnuts over the baking sheet and let them bake into the preheated oven for approximately 25 minutes. You can turn the walnuts once in the middle.

Now let the chilled ice cream mixture enter the ice cream maker. Churn it well for about 30 minutes to get its soft consistency.

At this stage, add the baked walnuts into the ice cream maker and then churn it well. You can also top the ice cream with some walnuts. Keep the ice cream into an air-tight container and let it rest in the refrigerator.

No wonder pairing whisky with ice cream is nowhere less than a treat.
