Evolve Back, Coorg
The newly renamed Evolve Back retains its Crown as the best place to stay in Coorg. Formerly known as Orange County Resort. The resort has 43 villas in various categories (all with private pools). It is situated in Chikkana Halli Estate, a 300-acre coffee and spice plantation. Heritage Pool Villas are built with stone and brick, with a typical sloping tiled roof shared by Koorg, in Kodava’s local style.
The resort has seven restaurants including a lunar lake dinner and private dining in a mechanical treetop – don’t skip the local specialty of curry with Nikki roti (spewed pork curry) (rice flatbread). Relish and rejuvenate at the vast spa in the Ayurveda Village where you will enjoy the best ayurvedic treatments, including herbal baths, oil massages, and beauty therapies. If you want to go outside the resort, take a ride on the river in the coracle of the ring fishing raft, the circular one used by local people, and take activities including nature walks, plantation visits, bicycle trips through nearby villages.
Porcupine Castle Resort Coorg
The Porcupine Castle Resort Coorg, located just off Madikeri-Kushalnagar Road, is a convenient budget offering 17 rooms and cottages with swinging palm trees. The rooms are decorated in vivid colors and feature all fundamental facilities, including private bathrooms. The resort provides family rooms and party rooms for 4 to 8 persons and elegant cottages with thatched roofs. South Indian specialties and a bakery menu are available from the Porcupine Castle. The restaurant serves no meals apart from breakfast, although an outdoor barbecue can be organized on request by the resort.
Old Kent Estates
Go back in time to the British Raj period in the Old Kent Estates, a restored grounds in a garden of England, surrounded by a coffee plantation of 200 hectares and thick forests. The heritage estate dates from the 19th century, and the hotel’s reception, dining room, library, game room, and Theater are now housed in a stately colonial-style lodge. All eight-holiday homes in the resort provide a lot of privacy. Each cottage has antique furnishings and a huge bathroom with a sky roof and natural bath items. Everyone has their own bathroom. Each cottage also features an outdoor manicured, private garden.
The Tamara
The Tamara Resort Coorg is a luxurious sanctuary like nobody else, nestled in the green of coffee, pepper, and cardamom plantations and surrounded by flowing streams and waterfalls. The resort consists of 63 rooms split into cottages and villas, all with amazing views over the valley and the forest. Both rooms have a working fireplace beside the Superior Cottages. The Pool Villas are the ultimate in luxury: an area of 3,300 square pies, a butler garret, a 4-foot heated pantry with a completely retractable town roof, separate living areas, dining and sleeping areas.
Club Mahindra Madikeri
Club Mahindra Madikeri is a company favorite of holiday families spread across a hillside adjacent to a coffee plantation. The 220 rooms have a magnificent view of the Western Ghats’ surroundings. The largest room can hold up to 4 adults and two children. There are many room options. Both rooms are elegantly decorated and have a refrigerator, tea/coffee-making facilities in the kitchenette. The resort offers a mixture of local and foreign dishes, with four dining options.
Purple Palms Resort & Spa
Purple Palms Resort & Spa is located right off the Kushalnagar motorway and is suitable for commercial and business travelers. The resort has 68 rooms and suites with sleek décor and color; there is plenty of purple accents, but all are really eye-catching. The panoramic rooms at the entrance level overlook either the lake or the café plantation. The courtyard rooms have a garden with a private patio and coffee table and the Peaberry suites have large living areas, a restaurant, two bathrooms, and a private balcony. There are two private bathrooms.
Zostel Coorg
Hostels in Coorg and Zostel are small and far away Coorg has located a large distance from the two major cities of the district, Madikeri, and Kushalnagar. However uncommon it is, Zostel is tucked away in a green coffee plantation and a forest and built like a typical Coorgi house – a one-story building with a tiled roof, which makes it a perfect location for a relaxing holiday. There are four dorm bedding choices, one 6-bed female and two outdoor tents, and a shared bathroom (with a total of 28 bedding). Dorms are clean and are fitted with linen, but towels must be rented.
